Research Market Research Analyst (Remote - Within Europe) at SlashData

Conducts market research on AI and software development trends, analyzes survey data using Python, and translates findings into actionable insights for technology company leaders.

Mid Remote Posted 9 days ago RemoteFirstJobs Product
What this role involves

About SlashData

SlashData helps product, platform, and engineering leaders understand how software development is changing in the AI era. For over 20 years, we have helped many of the world’s leading technology companies understand developers, developer ecosystems, and the tools and workflows shaping the future of software.

Our ambition is to become the industry-standard measurement system for the software development economy – the reference point that product, platform, and engineering leaders rely on to make decisions about developers, AI, and the future of software.

The Role

We are looking for a Market Research Analyst based within Europe with 2 to 5 years of experience in market research, data analysis, or technology advisory work.

In this role, you will develop and deliver research on how AI is reshaping software development, from developer tool adoption to engineering team workflows. You will work directly with product and platform leaders at major technology companies, translating our survey data into insights and foresight that shape their product, platform, and go-to-market decisions. As an analyst at SlashData, you will also act as a spokesperson for our research. This includes talking with clients, appearing in webinars, responding to journalists, and writing about your findings on social media.

Responsibilities

  • Working with clients and internal stakeholders to translate business problems into research objectives and projects.
  • Designing surveys that address the research needs of our clients and drive their desired outcomes.
  • Analysing data (using Python) to extract actionable insights on developer behaviours, preferences, and market trends.
  • Producing clear, well-structured reports that explain both the findings and their relevance (answering the “so what?” behind the results).
  • Presenting findings in client briefings, webinars, and other external-facing formats.
  • Developing deep domain expertise and a credible point of view in AI technology trends, developer tools, and software engineering practices, providing foresight on where the trends are heading.
  • Building and maintaining direct advisory relationships with client stakeholders, being a core part of the client relationship.

What we are looking for

Essential

  • 2 to 5 years of experience in market research, data analysis, and client project delivery.
  • Experience in working with stakeholders to understand business objectives and define research projects that address their needs.
  • Excellent business writing skills (English), with the ability to effectively communicate complex findings to non-technical audiences.
  • Demonstrated experience in writing clear, evidence-based research reports that turn data into actionable insights.
  • Confidence in client-facing settings, with strong presentation skills and the ability to hold your own in conversations with a Head of Product or VP of Engineering.
  • Strong data analysis skills, including hands-on experience with Python, R, or similar scripting tools.
  • At least a basic understanding of statistics and applied quantitative methods, such as segmentation, clustering and classification.
  • Ability to visualise data clearly and effectively through easy-to-understand charts and graphics.
  • Comfortable working as part of a distributed team, with mutual flexibility around working hours and occasional client meetings held after 17:00 UK time.
  • Genuine curiosity about technology trends: you follow AI, developer tools, or software engineering developments because you find them interesting, not just because a job requires it.

Bonus points for

  • Experience in working with complex survey data.
  • Advanced Python skills, including data manipulation and analysis in Pandas.
  • Having software development experience as a hobby or past work.
  • Experience at an analyst firm, technology advisory firm, or in a developer relations/developer marketing role.

You will be successful in the first 3 months if:

  • Developed a credible point of view on at least one AI technology trend, informed by our survey data and your own research.
  • Authored at least one research report, carrying out all data analysis and background research as needed.
  • Actively participated in at least two client research projects.
  • Delivered at least one client briefing or webinar to our high standards.
  • Actively contributed to shaping the research agenda and designing parts of the questionnaire of our upcoming global developer survey.
  • Supported our developer outreach and sales teams, promptly responding to any requests relevant to your work.
  • Built working relationships with at least 1 client account, actively participating in advisory conversations alongside senior analysts.

About the Role:

Maven is building a new direct-to-consumer business, and we’re making decisions every week that should be informed by real user insight: how women think about GLP-1 care, what makes a virtual clinic feel trustworthy, where our funnel loses people and why. We are looking for a part-time user researcher to own research end to end for our consumer team.

This is a hands-on contract role for someone who can operate independently: you’ll scope studies with product and design, recruit participants, run the research - either in-house or using a third party platform, and bring back insights the team actually uses. You’ll also help us level up, shaping our tooling and research process as the team grows.

This is a part-time contract engagement of approximately 10-20 hours per week, for an initial 6-month term with intent to extend or expand for the right person. The role is fully remote and open to candidates anywhere in the US.

What You’ll Do:

  • Partner with product and design to identify the questions worth answering and scope research that answers them
  • Own the full study lifecycle: research plans, participant recruiting, moderation, analysis, and synthesis
  • Run both qualitative and quantitative work, from user interviews and usability sessions to surveys, choosing the right method for each question
  • Share insights in ways that travel: crisp readouts to the working team and digestible takeaways for the broader org
  • Help define our research tooling and process, recommending what we should adopt, drop, or change

What You’ll Bring:

  • 5+ years of user research experience, including consumer products
  • True mixed-methods range: you’ve designed and fielded surveys with sound methodology and you’re a skilled interviewer and moderator; you’re familiar with AI-augmented methods and tools.
  • A track record of running research end to end with minimal oversight, ideally as a contractor, consultant, or solo researcher
  • Strong synthesis and communication: you turn messy data into clear, decision-ready insights
  • Comfort in a fast-moving environment where research has to keep pace with weekly ship cycles
  • Experience in healthcare, tele-health, or another trust-sensitive consumer space is a plus
  • Experience researching subscription products or conversion funnels is a plus
  • Experience standing up research practices or tooling at an early-stage team is a plus

The hourly rate for this role is $90 - $120 per hour. Individual pay decisions are based on qualifications, experience, and skillset. This is a 1099 contract position and is not eligible for Maven employee benefits.

This role requires active work authorization in the US.
