Data Analytics Senior Data Analyst, Risk Analytics at SeatGeek

Senior analyst builds fraud prevention models, runs experiments, and develops AI-powered dashboards to drive risk decisioning at a ticketing platform.

Senior Posted about 3 hours ago RemoteFirstJobs Product
What this role involves

SeatGeek believes live events are powerful experiences that unite humans. With our technological savvy and fan-first attitude we’re simplifying and modernizing the ticketing industry.

As a Senior Analyst on the Risk Analytics team, you will be the analytical engine behind our fraud prevention strategy. You will build models, run experiments, and develop tools that help us make smarter, faster decisions, reducing reliance on external black boxes and static rules. You will work closely with the Manager, Risk Analytics, owning the technical and statistical work that turns strategy into something measurable and executable. You will also be a key driver of how our team uses AI: not just adopting tools as they come, but actively building workflows, automating repetitive analysis, and thinking ahead about how AI can keep us one step ahead of increasingly sophisticated fraud.

What you’ll do

  • Build and maintain Python-based analyses, models, and data pipelines that support fraud decisioning, vendor evaluation, and internal risk scoring
  • Design and run statistical experiments from hypothesis through measurement and communication of results, including A/B tests on routing changes, holdout experiments, and vendor performance assessments
  • Develop and iterate on internal fraud risk models using SeatGeek transaction and vendor data; own model calibration, validation, and ongoing performance monitoring
  • Actively use AI tools including LLMs, code generation, and agentic workflows to move faster and build smarter; help define how AI gets embedded into the team’s analytical processes, and identify opportunities to automate work currently done manually
  • Contribute to vendor performance analysis: assess score calibration, measure lift across segments, and surface findings that inform routing decisions and contract discussions
  • Build and maintain dashboards and reports in Looker and Hex; develop SQL models and data views to support the team’s analytical needs
  • Monitor fraud and operations metrics, investigate anomalies, and escalate findings with a clear point of view on recommended actions
  • Collaborate with Risk Ops agents, the manager, and cross-functional partners in Engineering, Payments, and CX to translate analysis into action

What you have

  • 3+ years of experience in fraud analytics, risk, fintech, or a quantitatively demanding analytical role
  • Strong Python skills; you build end-to-end analyses and pipelines independently, and are proficient with pandas, scikit-learn, statsmodels, or equivalent libraries
  • Strong SQL; you can own complex data pulls, understand warehouse structures, and build views and models that others rely on
  • Solid statistical grounding: you can design statistically valid experiments, perform significance testing, assess model calibration, and communicate findings clearly to a non-technical audience
  • Hands-on experience building, training, and validating classification models independently; familiarity with model evaluation methods, handling class imbalance, and translating model outputs into business decisions
  • Genuine enthusiasm for AI tools: you actively use LLMs and code generation in your day-to-day work, think about how to design AI-assisted workflows, and take initiative in identifying where AI can replace manual effort
  • Comfort operating in ambiguity; you are expected to define the problem as much as solve it
  • Familiarity with fraud vendors such as Forter, Riskified, or Sardine is a plus; experience with Looker or similar BI tools is a plus

Perks

  • Equity stake
  • Discretionary annual bonus
  • Flexible work environment, allowing you to work as many days a week in the office as you’d like or 100% remotely
  • A WFH stipend to support your home office setup
  • Unlimited PTO
  • Up to 16 weeks of fully-paid family leave
  • 401(k) matching
  • Student loan matching program
  • Health, vision, dental, and life insurance
  • Up to $25k towards family building, reproductive health services and Gender-affirming care
  • $500 per year for wellness expenses
  • Subscriptions to Headspace (meditation), Headspace Care (therapy), and One Medical
  • $360 per quarter to spend on tickets to live events
  • Annual subscription to Spotify, Apple Music, or Amazon music

The salary range for this role is $108,000 - $157,000 USD. This role is equity eligible. In addition, you may receive a discretionary annual bonus based on individual and company performance. Actual compensation packages within that range are based on a wide array of factors unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, years and depth of experience, certifications, and specific location.

SeatGeek is committed to providing equal employment opportunities to all employees and applicants for employment regardless of race, color, religion, creed, age, national origin or ancestry, ethnicity, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, disability, military or veteran status, or any other category protected by federal, state, or local law. What this role involves

Description

About ScholarshipOwl

ScholarshipOwl is the largest scholarship marketplace in the US, using AI to connect 14 million students who are looking for scholarships with companies that are looking for students. Our mission is to make education financing more accessible and engaging, while giving brands a way to connect with the next generation.

We’re powered by AI technology that simplifies scholarship discovery, streamlines the application process, and delivers measurable results for both students and partners. Whether it’s helping students secure funding or enabling brands to run impactful campaigns, we’re reshaping how education is funded — and discovered.

The Role

We’re looking for a highly skilled and innovative Senior Full-Stack Engineer to architect high-performance web applications and accelerate our development velocity across our B2B platform. You’ll play a pivotal role in bridging modern Nuxt 3⁄4 frontend applications—including customer management portals and embeddable widget engines—with a robust Laravel and Doctrine ORM backend API, delivering seamless experiences that connect millions of students to funding opportunities.

You will own the technical implementation of core products across our entire stack, working with PHP 8.2+, Laravel, MySQL, and Vue 3 / Nuxt 3⁄4. Beyond traditional engineering, this role champions efficiency: you will deeply integrate AI-native workflows (using tools like Cursor and Google Gemini) to double shipping velocity, automate test coverage, and build intelligent LLM-driven platform features. If you are passionate about full-stack architecture, widget infrastructure, and leveraging AI to build smarter and faster, this role is for you.

What You’ll Do

  • Full Lifecycle Development: Architect, build, and ship end-to-end B2B features across the stack- from Laravel/Doctrine JSON:API endpoints to reactive Nuxt 3⁄4 Vue components and server routes.

  • Embed & Analytics Engine: Develop and optimize high-performance embedded widget systems, Nitro server engine logic, iframe cross-origin messaging, client event-tracking SDKs, and data ingestion pipelines.

  • API & Database Architecture: Design robust relational database schemas (MySQL), Doctrine entity mappings, clean migrations, performant RESTful/JSON:API contracts, and Redis caching layers.

  • AI-Native Acceleration: Integrate AI coding tools (Cursor, Gemini) into daily development for rapid feature prototyping, code refactoring, test generation, and building LLM-driven product features (e.g., automated applicant evaluation).

  • Third-Party Integrations\*:\* Integrate and maintain core third-party services and APIs, including CRM platforms, error tracking systems, payment gateways, and cloud data services

  • Automated Testing & Quality: Establish comprehensive automated test coverage (PHPUnit for backend, Playwright and Vitest for E2E/components) integrated into CI/CD pipelines to guarantee zero regressions.

  • Mentorship & Code Reviews: Conduct thorough, constructive code reviews and collaborate closely with product managers, QA engineers, and leadership to elevate team standards.

Requirements

Required Qualifications (Must Haves)

  • Experience: 4+ years of professional full-stack web development experience, with at least 1+ year actively incorporating AI coding assistants into daily engineering workflows.

  • Backend Expertise (PHP & Laravel): Strong commercial experience with PHP 8+ and Laravel (clean service architecture, queues/jobs, middleware, and OAuth2/Passport authentication).

  • Frontend Mastery (Vue 3 & Nuxt 3⁄4): Deep proficiency in modern Vue 3 (Composition API), Nuxt 3 or Nuxt 4, TypeScript, Pinia state management, and Tailwind CSS.

  • Database & ORM Skills: Strong relational database modeling and query optimization in MySQL, along with solid experience using ORMs (Doctrine ORM / DBAL or deep Eloquent experience with the ability to adapt to Doctrine quickly).

  • API Design & Caching: Deep understanding of RESTful / JSON:API standards, server-side validation error mapping, request formatting, and Redis performance caching.

  • AI-Native Workflow: Active daily use of AI coding tools (Cursor, Gemini) as a force multiplier for coding, debugging, and test creation.

  • Automated Testing: Hands-on experience writing backend test suites (PHPUnit) and frontend/E2E tests (Playwright, Vitest, or Cypress).

  • DevOps & Tooling: Solid working knowledge of Git, CI/CD release pipelines, Docker containerization, and Linux/container environments.

  • Async Communication & Autonomy: Exceptional written technical communication skills for authoring PRs, architectural design docs, and issue tracking; high autonomy to navigate multi-service codebases, solve complex blockers independently, and drive initiatives.

Good to Have

  • Education & Background: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent practical software engineering experience.

  • Certifications\*:\* Advanced degree or formal certifications in Cloud Architecture, Modern Software Engineering, or AI Engineering.

  • Doctrine ORM: Direct production experience with Doctrine ORM / DBAL in Laravel environments.

  • Widget & SDK Systems: Experience developing embeddable web widgets, lightweight JavaScript tracking SDKs, iframe cross-origin communication, or browser fingerprinting.

  • Modern Tooling: Experience with Nitro server engines, Bun runtime, PrimeVue components, or streaming data into data warehouses (e.g., BigQuery).

  • Payment Gateways: Integration experience with payment processors (Stripe/Braintree) and B2B subscription billing lifecycles.

  • Gemini LLM Integration: Practical experience integrating Google Gemini models (prompt engineering, structured JSON outputs, Gemini API / SDKs).

  • Cloud Infrastructure (GCP): Hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform (Cloud Run, Kubernetes, Cloud Build).

### Bonus Skills (The “X-Factor”)

  • Technical Leadership: Prior experience in a Tech Lead or Team Lead capacity—driving architectural decisions, coordinating delivery, and unblocking team members.

  • Domain Knowledge: Background in high-growth B2B SaaS platforms, grant/applicant management systems, EdTech, recruitment/ATS tools, or conversion tracking ecosystems.

Life360 has more than 500 (and growing!) remote-first employees. For more information, please visit life360.com.

Life360 is a Remote First company, which means a remote work environment will be the primary experience for all employees. All positions, unless otherwise specified, can be performed remotely (within the US and Canada) regardless of any specified location above.

We are AI Native

We are building an AI native company where AI is an integral part of how we build and operate. AI tool usage during interviews varies by role. You may be asked to demonstrate proficiency with AI tools, discuss how you leverage AI, or complete interview exercises without AI assistance. Your Recruiter will provide clear guidance as you move through the interview process.

Undisclosed use of AI not previously discussed with or approved by your Recruiter may impact your candidacy.

About The Team

Life360 is building the family ads platform, and the Ads Operating Group is where that business gets built. We are a combined org spanning Product, Ads Sales & Marketing and Ads R&D, with a mandate to grow a high-value, privacy-safe ads business at the intersection of location intelligence and family life. The Product team moves fast, operates with a builder’s mindset, and is creating infrastructure, partnerships, and revenue that didn’t exist before. This role sits at the center of that build, connecting what we make to how we win in the market.

About the Job

We are looking for a Senior Product Manager to own and scale our programmatic advertising exchange and SSP capabilities within Life360’s growing Ads business. This role combines deep operational ownership, strategic product leadership, and hands-on collaboration across Engineering, Programmatic, Sales, and Partner teams.

You will be the primary product owner responsible for the stability, performance, and evolution of our exchange. This includes managing day-to-day exchange operations, guiding backlog and roadmap execution, partnering closely with Engineering on delivery, and working directly with supply and demand partners to drive optimization and growth. You will also own Ad Quality, both on the Exchange and on the L360 app. You will balance short-term operational needs and revenue impact with long-term platform scalability, reliability, and market competitiveness.

This is a highly cross-functional role in a fast-moving, technically complex environment. Success requires comfort with ambiguity, strong judgment in prioritization, and the ability to align diverse stakeholders around clear product direction.

For candidates based in the US, the salary range for this position is $137,000 to $200,000 USD. For candidates based out of Canada, the salary range for this position is $158,500 to $185,000 CAD. We take into consideration an individual’s background and experience in determining final salary - therefore, base pay offered may vary considerably depending on geographic location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The compensation package includes a wide range of medical, dental, vision, financial, and other benefits, as well as equity.

What You’ll Do

  • Own exchange operations and performance by serving as the primary product owner for exchange-related issues, integrations, and reliability, ensuring ongoing stability and rapid resolution of incidents in partnership with Engineering and Programmatic stakeholders.
  • Provide strategic product leadership by defining and maintaining the product vision and roadmap for programmatic and exchange offerings, aligning priorities with company goals, market trends, and leadership direction.
  • Drive monetization and exchange optimization by applying expertise in supply and demand dynamics, auction mechanics, pricing, formats, and partner mix to improve performance and scalability.
  • Own and evolve programmatic integrations across OpenRTB, Prebid (client and server), and Google Open Bidding, ensuring high-quality bid flow, measurement, and partner performance across Web, Mobile, and CTV.

Sales Senior Manager, Competitive Intelligence & Positioning at Wrike

Senior manager who owns competitive intelligence strategy, creates positioning battlecards, and coaches sales teams to win deals against competitors.

Senior Posted about 3 hours ago RemoteFirstJobs Product
What this role involves

Wrike is the most powerful work management platform. Built for teams and organizations looking to collaborate, create, and exceed every day, Wrike brings everyone and all work into a single place to remove complexity, increase productivity, and free people up to focus on their most purposeful work.

Our vision: A world where everyone is free to focus on their most purposeful work, together.

About the Role:

Collaborative work management is a $14B category growing at 15% a year, and the competitive set is consolidating fast. Wrike is hiring a Senior Manager, Competitive Intelligence & Positioning to own our company wide competitive program end to end, connecting what’s happening in the market to how our GTM teams win deals because of it.

You’ll build the single source of competitive truth our field relies on daily, sharpen the “Why Wrike Over Them” narrative for the core platform, and turn competitive analysis into deal level plays that move win rates against our primary competitors.

This is not a research only role. You’ll be equally comfortable writing an executive brief for our CEO, building a battlecard, and coaching an AE through a live competitive situation the same afternoon.

This is a senior individual contributor role. You won’t have direct reports. You’ll have a mandate, executive air cover, and the responsibility to influence Sales, Product, Enablement, and Analyst Relations without direct authority.

Your Impact:

  • The Competitive Program: Build, scale, and maintain a high adoption single source of truth: battlecards, competitor teardowns, and playbooks, with a clear tiering framework that decides which competitors get which depth of coverage. Success is measured by whether the field uses it, not whether it exists.
  • Core positioning and differentiation: Craft and evolve Wrike’s positioning and value messaging framework across target verticals and buyer personas: before and after scenarios, the capabilities buyers must have to get there, our defensible differentiators, and the metrics and proof points that make the claims verifiable. Keep it the single source of truth across Sales, CS, and campaigns, not a parallel doc that competes with what the field already uses.
  • Deal-Level Wins: Partner with Sales and Revenue Enablement to translate intelligence into tactical plays (trap setting discovery questions, objection handling, displacement plays) and join high stakes competitive evaluations and churn risk calls directly when your expertise can tip the outcome.
  • The win/loss program. Design and operate win/loss across segments, instrumented via [Salesforce/Clari/Clozd,Klu], with quarterly readouts and recommendations that reach Product and GTM leadership.
  • Competitive pricing and packaging intelligence. Track and analyze competitor pricing models, packaging shifts, and discounting behavior, and equip Sales to navigate them in negotiation.
  • Quantified value. Build the business-case layer that makes our differentiation defensible in enterprise deals — ROI models, TCO comparisons, and value realization frameworks Sales can put in front of an economic buyer.
  • Executive Intel cadence: Establish a recurring intel cadence for GTM and product leadership, analyzing market movements, pricing/packaging shifts, product launches, M&A activity, and analyst coverage.
  • Analyst and review site influence. Partner with AR on Gartner, Forrester, and IDC submissions, RFIs and RFPs, evaluation criteria, and review site strategy (G2, TrustRadius) so Wrike’s differentiators are accurately represented where buyers actually look.
  • An AI native operating model. Build and optimize AI-powered workflows that scale how intelligence is gathered, synthesized, and distributed — competitor tracking, win/loss sentiment mining from deal notes, teardown analysis, and competitive RFP response.

How You’ll Drive Business Value:

You’ll own and report on:

  • Win rate against named primary competitors
  • Competitive displacement, meaning deals won where an incumbent competitor was in seat
  • Deal velocity and influenced ACV in competitive opportunities
  • Field adoption of competitive assets, measured rather than assumed

Your Qualifications:

  • 7+ years in competitive intelligence, product marketing, or strategic GTM in B2B SaaS, with demonstrated success building competitive programs and enablement assets that measurably moved win rates and deal velocity.
  • Proven ownership of strategic functional initiatives end to end. You set the priorities, you’re accountable for the outcomes, and you’ve done it without a team underneath you.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence and align senior stakeholders across Sales, Product, Enablement, and Executive Leadership without direct authority.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication. You can hold a room of executives and a room of AEs on the same day, and adjust the altitude without losing the point.

Standout Qualities:

  • Familiarity with enterprise value selling methodologies (Force Management’s Command of the Message, MEDDICC/MEDDPICC, Challenger, or similar) and a track record of translating them into messaging, discovery guides, and competitive plays reps will actually use.
  • Experience in work management, collaboration, knowledge management, or adjacent enterprise SaaS categories.
  • Hands on with CI and revenue tooling: [Klue, Clozd, Clari, Salesforce, Gemi, Claude, etc ].
  • Direct experience contributing to major industry research: Gartner Magic Quadrant, Forrester Wave, or equivalent.
  • Comfort with pricing intelligence, packaging analysis, and contract negotiation dynamics.
  • Financial literacy. You can pull an insight out of a company’s annual filings.

Our Work Style:

You’ll report into Product Marketing Management and partner closely with Product Management, Revenue Enablement, Sales, and Executive Leadership as the resident expert on competitive dynamics: strategic advisor to leadership, trusted tactical partner to the field.

We’re a collaborative, fast moving team that values transparency, continuous learning, and swift execution. We run on Wrike, so you’ll use the product you’re positioning every day, which turns out to be one of the better competitive research methods available.

Benefits & Perks:

  • Flexible Time Off (FTO)
  • Company 401(k) Match
  • Parental Leave: 18 Weeks Maternity / 4 Week Paternity
  • 2 Volunteer Days
  • Health (medical, dental & vision) Insurance (EEs + Dependents)
  • Disability (STD, LTD) & Life Insurance Plans (2x Salary, Capped)
  • Working from Home Allowance ($40 / Monthly)
  • $500 Working from Home home office set-up Stipend

Product Technical Product Owner at Dynatron Software

Technical Product Owner owns the data platform backlog, prioritizes data ingestion/transformation/API work, and bridges engineering and product to drive platform strategy and delivery.

Senior Posted about 3 hours ago RemoteFirstJobs Product
What this role involves

About Dynatron

“Dynatron is championing a new standard of Fixed Ops excellence for automotive dealerships. We cut through the Fixed Ops data fog and deliver unique insights and actions that help you drive revenue growth, expand margins, and uplift retention—all through a unique AI-powered Fixed Ops Data Intelligence Platform, proven methodology, and expert coaching.

The Opportunity

We’re seeking a hands-on, technically fluent Technical Product Owner to own the delivery and evolution of the data platform that powers Dynatron’s products and client outcomes. You will define, refine, and prioritize data-related work across ingestion, transformation, APIs, integrations, and governance — ensuring the right data sources, structures, and intelligence are always available to support current products and future innovation.

Success in this role means bridging technical depth with product thinking: writing precise acceptance criteria, partnering closely with engineers and data architects, and relentlessly prioritizing the highest-impact work. You’ll work across Engineering, Data, Product, Sales, Marketing, and Client Success to turn data into a durable competitive advantage.

Data is not a supporting function at Dynatron — it is the foundation upon which our products are built. Every metric, recommendation, and workflow surfaced to a dealership service department depends on the depth, accuracy, and structure of the data we curate and evolve. The ideal candidate is equally at home interrogating source systems and mapping data gaps with our Data team as they are representing product requirements in architectural discussions. You translate product needs into data requirements with the rigor to ensure we build for extensibility and scale — not one-off solutions that require rework — and you hold both sides accountable to each other.

What You’ll Do

Backlog Ownership & Sprint Execution

  • Own and maintain the data product backlog—writing, refining, and prioritizing user stories, epics, and technical tasks across data ingestion, transformation, APIs, and integrations.
  • Lead sprint planning, backlog grooming, and sprint reviews in close partnership with Engineering and Data teams.
  • Manage dependencies, track delivery progress, and proactively surface blockers or risks to stakeholders.

Data Platform Strategy & Roadmap Alignment

  • Partner with Product leadership to shape and maintain the roadmap for Dynatron’s enterprise data platform, ensuring alignment with company objectives and long-term product direction.
  • Prioritize initiatives across ingestion, transformation, categorization, storage, governance, and data delivery based on business value and strategic impact.

Product Line Partnership & Data Enablement

  • Partner with Product Managers across all product lines to ensure products have the data sources, integrations, and intelligence needed to meet roadmap goals and customer needs.
  • Identify gaps in current data capabilities and prioritize the highest-value opportunities to strengthen product offerings and improve client outcomes.

Integrations, Vendors & External Partnerships

  • Own all third-party data integrations and API partnerships, including evaluation, prioritization, implementation coordination, and ongoing optimization.
  • Manage vendor relationships, licensing agreements, service levels, compliance, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Evaluate new data sources, partnerships, and enrichment opportunities that expand product capabilities.

Data, AI & Innovation

  • Collaborate with Analytics, Data Science, and AI teams to surface KPIs, benchmarks, predictive capabilities, and intelligent automation opportunities.
  • Champion data quality and governance through standards for accuracy, consistency, transparency, and trust.
  • Help shape future AI-enabled capabilities by ensuring Dynatron has the data foundation required to scale innovation.

Go-To-Market & Internal Enablement

  • Support go-to-market readiness for data-driven features and platform enhancements.
  • Enable Sales, Marketing, Product, and Client Success teams with clear narratives, use cases, and product knowledge related to data capabilities.

What You Bring

Product Owner Experience

  • 4+ years of Product Owner or Product Management experience, with a focus on data products, platforms, analytics, AI-enabled solutions, or technical integrations.
  • Proven experience owning and managing product backlogs and sprint execution for data platforms, APIs, or shared product capabilities supporting multiple product lines.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate business goals, stakeholder needs, and market opportunities into clear, prioritized product requirements and measurable outcomes.

Data, AI & Technical Acumen

  • Proven ability to work with data teams on pipelines, ETL processes, APIs, data architecture concepts, and AI/ML enablement.
  • Hands-on experience delivering products leveraging complex datasets (e.g., categorization, forecasting, benchmarking, optimization, machine learning, or AI-driven capabilities).
  • Familiarity with SQL, data warehousing (e.g., Snowflake, Redshift, BigQuery), or BI tools (e.g., Tableau, Looker, Power BI) preferred.
  • Strong analytical skills, including the ability to interpret data models, dashboards, usage metrics, and business performance indicators to inform prioritization decisions.

Cross-Functional Leadership & Execution

  • Experience partnering with cross-functional Product Managers and business stakeholders to identify unmet data needs and prioritize future opportunities.
  • Demonstrated ability to own outcomes from problem definition through delivery and measurable results.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to explain technical data and AI concepts in business terms.

Nice to Have

  • Background in automotive fixed ops, transportation, logistics, SaaS, or similar data-intensive industries strongly preferred.
  • Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO), SAFe POPM, or equivalent agile certification a plus.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Analytics, Business, or related field preferred.
  • Pragmatic Institute Certification or similar product training a plus.

Why Dynatron

  • Own and shape the data and AI foundation of a rapidly growing SaaS platform — with direct influence over the intelligent products and outcomes delivered to thousands of dealerships.
  • Highly visible, strategic role with influence across Product, Engineering, Data, GTM, and Leadership teams.
  • Values-driven culture focused on accountability, urgency, and delivering measurable results.
  • Remote-first environment offering flexibility, autonomy, and trust.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Competitive base salary - $130,000/yr
  • Participation in Dynatron’s Equity Incentive Plan
  • Comprehensive health, vision, and dental insurance
  • Employer-paid disability and life insurance
  • 401(k) with competitive company match
  • Flexible vacation policy and 11 paid holidays
  • Remote-first culture

Ready to shape Dynatron’s product future?

Join us to build customer-centered products that turn insight into action, align teams around clear outcomes, and drive Dynatron’s next phase of growth.

Engineer Senior Software Engineer, MediaWiki Content Platform Team at Wikimedia Foundation

Senior software engineer designs and maintains wikitext processing infrastructure, APIs, and content rendering systems supporting Wikipedia at scale.

Senior Remote Posted about 3 hours ago RemoteFirstJobs Product
What this role involves

Senior Software Engineer, MediaWiki Content Platform Team

Summary

The Wikimedia Foundation is looking for a software engineer to join our team, reporting to engineering management. As a software engineer, you will be responsible for engineering software that supports our product user experiences. In this role, you will work in a fully-remote environment (with occasional travel for team, department, or organization events), where we value teamwork and a consensus-oriented approach. You get to write open source code for collaborative experiences supporting well over half a billion pages accessed per day, and you get to do it at a place that believes we’re all more successful when everyone has a good work-life balance.

On the Content Platform team, we work to support and evolve all things wikitext, the markup language behind Wikipedia. We aim to make wikitext easier to write, faster to parse, and less error-prone for humans. We also strive to support editing and content analysis tools with structured representations. We also maintain the web services associated with content rendering and transformation.

In this role, you will work in a mostly-remote environment. To ensure there are enough opportunities to communicate, the preferred timezone for this candidate will be GMT-4 to GMT+2.

You are responsible for:

  • Designing and delivering improvements to Wikipedia’s wikitext processing infrastructure, balancing user experience, performance, backwards compatibility, and maintainability
  • Iterating on new features through collaboration with fellow engineers, product managers, designers, client teams, and community members
  • Writing PHP and JavaScript which supports hundreds of world languages
  • Creating and maintaining internet APIs with server scripting languages
  • Instrumenting components to monitor feature and quality characteristics
  • Leveraging caching and persistence technologies

Skills and experience:

  • 5+ years of related professional experience in software engineering
  • Experience with one or more of: parser generators, interpreters, language runtimes, compilers, or bringing a language feature through a product cycle
  • Demonstrated ability to own complex technical projects from problem definition through implementation and delivery, including making and communicating architectural decisions and navigating ambiguity
  • Experience designing and maintaining reliable, performant software components used by other teams, products, or large numbers of users
  • Strong engineering practices: you enjoy writing unit and integration tests, proactively addressing security and code review feedback, and balancing architectural tradeoffs
  • Ability to work effectively across team and organizational boundaries, identify and resolve technical dependencies, and bring projects to completion with limited direction
  • Experience mentoring other engineers and raising the technical quality of a team, through code reviews, design discussions, documentation, or direct mentorship

Qualities that are important to us:

  • A desire to make meaningful contributions to knowledge equity, free culture, and open access
  • An emphasis on communicating clearly in both synchronous and asynchronous channels
  • Self motivated with an ability to navigate through ambiguity and bring a project to completion with limited direction

Additionally, we’d love it if you have this:

  • Familiarity with the HTML5 spec and DOM manipulation
  • Expertise in Node.js and related technologies
  • Familiarity with Wikipedia/wikitext/markdown editing or content management systems (e.g., MediaWiki, Drupal, WordPress). We grow and care for MediaWiki and Wikimedia specific services. MediaWiki is an open source, PHP, MySQL, and JavaScript web application that powers Wikipedia and other Wikimedia Foundation websites. It has been incrementally developed for many years to become a richly featured wiki engine and the basis for hundreds of extensions and skins, and has a vibrant volunteer community.
  • A history of open source contribution
  • Bachelor’s, master’s, or doctorate degree in computer science, software engineering, or other STEM field (or equivalent certification)
